Hope Housing Personal Development Programme
At Hope Housing, our Personal Development Programme is a central part of our person-centred support model, helping residents build emotional resilience, self-awareness, confidence, and the life skills needed to move towards greater independence.
The programme is led by Lisa Everett, a trained counsellor, member of the National Counselling Society, and an experienced practitioner with 17 years of supporting vulnerable adults and managing challenging behaviour. Her depth of experience enables her to deliver sessions that are both professionally informed and grounded in real-life understanding, creating a safe and engaging environment where residents feel able to reflect, contribute, and grow.
Held weekly, the programme covers a wide range of subjects designed to encourage personal growth, emotional understanding, and healthier ways of thinking. Topics include self-esteem, relationships, grief and loss, emotional wellbeing, boundaries, motivation, communication, gratitude, self-sabotage, mental strength, volunteering, and overcoming barriers to success.
Benefits of Personal Development
Develop self-awareness
Learn to listen to others
Develop an open mind and explore different perspectives
Build confidence and self-worth
Improve emotional intelligence
Learn healthier coping mechanisms
Strengthen communication and relationships
Build a strong foundation for independence
The programme gives residents the opportunity to feel heard, explore difficult subjects safely, and recognise their own progress over time. Through open discussion, reflection, and guided learning, residents are encouraged to challenge unhelpful patterns, build confidence, and develop the mindset needed for positive change.
At Hope Housing, we recognise that lasting progress is about more than accommodation alone — it is about supporting people to understand themselves, strengthen emotionally, and develop the confidence to move forward with purpose.
The Personal Development Programme takes place every Thursday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, offering residents a regular dedicated space each week to reflect, learn, and continue their personal growth journey.
