Glynn's Story

From Homelessness to Hope Trustee

Glynn first moved into Hope Housing in 2016 after experiencing homelessness following the breakdown of an abusive relationship. At the time, he was also struggling with addiction and mental health challenges and needed support to rebuild his life.

During his time as a resident, Glynn embraced the opportunities available to him and began volunteering with Hope Housing's maintenance team. Through hard work, determination and support, he gradually regained his confidence, stability and sense of purpose.

In 2018, Glynn successfully moved on from Hope Housing and into a home with his partner. Since then, they have built a happy family life together and are now proud parents to three children and owners of two much-loved dogs.

After moving on, Glynn continued his journey with Hope Housing, initially working full-time as part of the maintenance team. During the Covid-19 pandemic, when normal maintenance work was disrupted, he began supporting residents in a different way. Helping people through difficult times gave him a new sense of purpose and he discovered a passion for supporting others.

When the opportunity arose to become Hope Housing's Health & Wellbeing Coach, Glynn eagerly stepped into the role. Drawing on his own lived experience of homelessness, addiction and recovery, he was able to connect with residents on a personal level and inspire them to believe that positive change was possible.

His commitment to the charity also led him to become one of Hope Housing's trustees, helping to shape and guide the organisation that had played such an important part in his own recovery journey.

After nearly a decade of involvement with Hope Housing as a resident, volunteer, employee, Health & Wellbeing Coach and trustee, Glynn decided to move on from the charity in 2025.

Glynn's journey is a powerful example of how recovery, support and opportunity can transform lives. From arriving at Hope Housing facing homelessness and personal challenges, to helping support hundreds of others on their own journeys, he has demonstrated what can be achieved when people are given the chance to rebuild their lives.

"Hope Housing gave me the opportunity to rebuild my life. Being able to help others do the same has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life."
